With guidance from above, and the help of family and friends, an amazing journey started in Houtzdale, Pa back in 1981.
Pizza, Hoagies and Pinball machines led to entering and winning a national Rib Cook-Off at Pittsburgh, PA in 1987. First Place Best Ribs and First Place Best Sauce were the honors we received, a story that if you ask me, I will tell you how improbable it was. Four years later I found myself sitting off Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania, exit 123 selling Gasoline, Convenience Items and some Food...but not Ribs.

It wasn't until August of 2002 on a vacation to Myrtle Beach South Carolina with my Family that a night time dream I had, would lead us to what we've become. Whether its award winning BBQ or our homemade Pizza/ Pasta Sauce, its a taste you will not forget. Be it, Chef Mario Battali and his family or a family from Brooklyn New York traveling across Pennsylvania, we love hearing your stories and providing a nice stop along your way. All the food we sell is prepared with quality products our special way.

We believe you will not forget us, as people have brought me to tears letting us know how far out of the way they have come just to get what we've got. It couldn't be any better and I Thank each and every one of you for including us on your path of life.

The pulled pork and sides were so good we decided to start a "best bbq" list for that trip and our upcoming trip from Toronto thru Ohio, KY, TN, Arkansas, TX and Grand Canyon country. Gio's beat out every other BBQ place we tried -- all ten of them. Gio's meat was moist and very tasty. The sides are the best anywhere. by Lia AMAZING. I admit I was skeptical when the spouse pulled into a gas station and said "here we are!",but as soon as I smelled it, I knew we'd made a good choice. Huge servings of great meats and sides. Friendly service. Sure, the ambience isn't 5 star worthy, but the unpretentious atmosphere works. Definitely worth a stop.

We have been back 3 times now, eat there: get food to bring w/us: tell everyone about this gem. Pulled pork is a 'must have', ribs are a 'must try', baked beans are a 'can't live without'! Staff is sweet & work their tails off! Absolute must stop!!

Ribs were moist and pulled away from bone...Potato salad was fresh and chunky...baked beans were most definitly different....in a good way....never had them fixed with all the different types of beans... I really liked the fact that everything was mild and not over spiced.... Smokey BBQ hits you the minute you get out of truck....
